Rural New Street Adolescent Service - Tamworth and Newcastle
Social Workers, Counsellors or Psychologists
Rural New Street is a NSW Health program that provides a combination of centre based and outreach services in the Hunter New England Health (HNEH) area. We work with families in which a child or young person (10-17) hassexually abused another. We work with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities, families and young people. The Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff are trained in cultural competencies and are required to be accredited asspecialist counsellors with the NSW Commission for Children and Young People.
We are looking for Social Workers, Counsellors or Psychologists with good communication and clinical skills and a passion for promoting ethical and respectful sexual relating. An understanding of the dynamics of intrafamilial child sexual abuse and an ability to engage and work positively with children and young people who have sexually abused are essential.

Provide therapeutic services to clients of Rural New Street Adolescent Service - children and young people (aged 10 - 17 years) who have sexually abused, and the families of those children and young people.

- Provides offence specific interventions to men and women across prisons and community corrections
- Is committed to community protection
SOP clinicians provide a range of services state wide, including risk assessments, intervention-planning, treatment, case management advice, staff training, research and evaluation. The SOP team consists of 28 clinicians including a number of senior clinicians who provide mentoring and supervision.
Some travel to metropolitan and regional locations will be required to undertake the different roles at SOP. The position may also be required to work some evenings and early mornings in order to facilitate treatment groups.
The successful candidate will be registered as a Psychologist with the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria. Please Note - Provisional Psychologists may apply and remuneration is within Allied Health Grade 2 salary band.
